How to Connect Salesforce CRM to Alta

Use this guide to integrate your Salesforce CRM with Alta, configure de-duplication for inbound data, and set up push rules for outbound activity.

Prerequisites

  • Alta Account: You must have admin or integration-level permissions.

  • Salesforce Account: You must have admin rights to install and configure integrations.

1. Enable the Salesforce Integration

  1. In Alta, navigate to SettingsIntegrations.

  2. Find Salesforce and click Connect (Sync).

  3. Authorize the connection by logging into your Salesforce org when prompted.

2. Configure De-duplication (Inbound Sync)

Prevent Alta from reaching out to contacts or companies that already exist in Salesforce:

  1. Under the Salesforce integration, go to the Sync tab.

  2. Select the level of de-duplication you need:

    • Leads

    • Contacts

    • Companies

  3. Toggle On, then click Add Filter.

  4. Define your rules:

    • Field: e.g., Status

    • Operator: Equals or In (to include multiple values)

    • Value: e.g., Contacted

  5. (Optional) Add additional filters by repeating steps 3–4.

  6. For company-level de-duplication, set:

    • Field: Account Type

    • Operator: Equals

    • Value: e.g., Customer Direct

3. Set Up Push Rules (Outbound to Salesforce)

Decide when Alta activities (new prospects, replies, etc.) should create or update records in Salesforce:

  1. Switch to the Push tab within the Salesforce integration.

  2. Toggle On for the record type you want to push:

    • Leads

    • Contacts

    • Companies

  3. Choose your trigger events:

    • On First Outreach

    • Only on Connection Accepted

    • On Positive Reply

    • On phone fetched

  4. Click Add Field Mapping and configure:

    • Alta FieldSalesforce Field

    • Example: Set Lead Status to a static value (e.g., Open – Contacted).

  5. Enable Send on Update to push any subsequent changes from Alta back into Salesforce.

  6. Update Existing Data: When a lead generated in Alta already exists in Salesforce, enabling this toggle allows Alta to update that prospect’s information in Salesforce

4. Review and Save

  1. Double-check your filter and mapping rules for both Deduplication and Push rules.

  2. Click Save to activate the integration.

  3. Monitor your first few records to ensure data flows as expected.
