Data Explorer: Understanding and Utilizing the Power of Your Data (video)

Introduction

In this guide, we will explore how to use Data Explorer to analyze and visualize your business metrics effectively. Data Explorer is a powerful tool that allows you to dig deeper into your data, customize visualization types, and filter and drill down your data to gain insights.

Accessing Data Explorer

You can find Data Explorer in the left panel of your dashboard. Alternatively, you can click on any widget in your dashboard to understand how the metric is built and customize or edit it.

  1. Open any dashboard and click on the name of the widget that you'd like to explore or modify.

  2. You'll see the data table and data visualization on the left and on the right side, you'll find the settings panel where you can choose the type of visualization and the data source.

  3. Applying Filters and Grouping Data

    1. Applying Filters:

      • Use the "Filter & Sort" option to narrow down the data.

      • Apply filters based on specific criteria such as date range, segment, lead source, etc.

    2. Grouping Data:

      • Use the "Stacking" option to group data by different dimensions.

      • For instance, group by "Lead Source" to see a breakdown of MQLs by lead source over time.

    3. Drilldown:

      • Use the "Drilldown" option to explore data in more detail.

      • Drill down by specific fields such as "Stage Name" or "Type of Deal" to gain deeper insights.

    Saving and Exporting Data

    1. Saving Customized Widgets:

      • Once you have customized the widget to your preference, click "Save" or "Save As New".

      • Name your widget appropriately, e.g., "MQLs by Source Over Time".

    2. Adding to Dashboard:

      • Choose the dashboard where you want to add the customized widget, such as the "Go To Market" dashboard.

      • Click "Save" to include it in your selected dashboard.

    3. Export Data:

      • If you prefer to analyze data offline, export the data to Excel by clicking the export option.

      • This provides flexibility for further manipulation and reporting outside the Data Explorer.

    Conclusion

Data Explorer is a versatile tool that allows you to dive deep into your metrics, customize views, apply filters, and gain actionable insights. By effectively using Data Explorer, you can enhance your understanding of your data and make data-driven decisions to optimize your strategies.
