How to build a new model from scratch (with video)
To create a model from scratch using a specific data source and customize it according to the required fields and metrics, simply follow these steps described in the video and this article below.
Choose Source:
Connect to the desired data source, e.g., monday.com
Create Model:
Select the table or entity from the data source to create a model for, e.g., items.
Preview the selected items to see the contents.
Customize the model by applying formulas or SQL queries if needed.
Customize Fields:
After creating the model, review all the fields that were automatically mapped.
Choose the fields to include in the model, such as name and ID.
Edit fields, add value formats, descriptions, and specify value types (boolean, string, number).
Create metrics to track and measure specific aspects related to the model
Save Changes:
Before leaving the page, ensure to save any changes made to the model.
Review the changes made before saving to confirm accuracy.
Entity Settings:
View and potentially modify the SQL associated with the model.
Add more details or configurations to enhance the view of the items.
Add Joins:
Create connections or joins to other views related to the items in the model.
Establish relationships between different views to complete the model.
Make sure to save all changes before leaving the model creation page to avoid losing any modifications.
Double-check the fields, descriptions, and value types to maintain data accuracy within the model
