How to Configure the Call flow

This guide walks you through how to set up the call flow when creating call campaigns with Alex, your AI Calling Agent.

1. Choose the Call Type: Outbound vs. Inbound

When creating a new call campaign, the first step is selecting the call type:

  • Outbound Calls: Alex reaches out to your prospects proactively.

  • Inbound Calls: Ideal for high-intent leads, such as website visitors or form submissions.

This selection determines how Alex generates and tailors the script.

2. Enter the Website URL

After selecting the call type:

  1. Enter the website URL your calls should be based on.

  2. Click Generate.

  3. Alex will automatically create a script customized for inbound or outbound conversations—depending on your selection.

3. Review the Script Sections

Once generated, you’ll see key components of the script:

Opening Line

This is the first sentence Alex will say on the call.
It’s crucial to customize this line.

4. Customize the Opening Line

  1. Type your desired opening sentence.

  2. You can insert dynamic fields from Compass, such as:

    • Prospect’s first name

    • Company name

    • Other mapped fields

Tip: When Compass variables appear in the format {{variable}}, Alex will automatically personalize them during the call.

Example:
Instead of writing “Hello, is this the prospect?”, use:
Hello, is this {{first_name}}?

5. Edit and Structure the Script

Below the opening line, you can customize the full script Alex will use.

Add Headers

Use two asterisks ** to create section titles.
Example:
**Non-negotiables**

Add Bullet Points

Under each section, add bullet points to instruct Alex on tone and behavior.
Example:

  • Always be polite

  • Listen carefully before responding

  • Confirm understanding when needed

These prompts help Alex follow specific guidelines during live calls.


6. Refine the Script (Optional)

Click Refine to let Alex review and improve the script.
Refinement includes:

  • Smoother phrasing

  • Corrected grammar

  • Improved clarity and structure


7. Save and Test

Once the script is ready:

  1. Click Save.

  2. Use the Test Call option to hear how Alex delivers the script in a real call scenario.

This helps you validate the flow before launching your campaign.
