Manual tasks are useful when you want the campaign sequence to pause until a specific action is completed by a team member.
What Is a Manual Task?
A manual task is a step in the campaign flow that requires a person to complete an action before the sequence continues.
When a prospect reaches a manual task step, the campaign sequence will automatically pause until the task is marked as done.
When to Use a Manual Task
You can use a manual task when you want a team member to complete an action manually, such as:
Making a cold call to the prospect
Reviewing a prospect before continuing the sequence
Checking a LinkedIn profile
Sending a personalized note outside of the automated flow
Confirming information before the next touchpoint
Taking an internal action before the campaign continues
Step 1: Go to the Touchpoints Section
Open the campaign you want to edit.
Go to the Touchpoints section of the campaign builder.
This is where you can manage and add steps to your campaign flow.
Step 2: Click Add New
On the left-hand side of the screen, click Add New.
This will open the list of available step types you can add to the campaign.
Step 3: Select Manual Task
From the list of step options, click Manual Task.
This will add a manual task step to your campaign flow.
Step 4: Add a Note
You can add a note related to the manual task.
Use the note to explain what needs to be done before the sequence can continue.
For example:
Call the prospect directly before continuing the sequence. After the call is completed, mark this task as done so the campaign can move to the next step.
A clear note helps the team member understand exactly what action is required.
Step 5: Choose Whether to Send a Slack Notification
You can also choose to send a Slack notification for the manual task.
This is helpful if you want the relevant team member to be notified when the task is created or needs attention.
What Happens After Adding a Manual Task?
Once the manual task is added to the campaign:
The prospect will reach the manual task step in the sequence.
The sequence will automatically pause.
The sequence will remain paused until the manual task is marked as done.
After the task is completed, the campaign can continue to the next step.
Best Practices for Manual Tasks
To make manual tasks easy to manage:
Add a clear and specific note.
Explain exactly what action needs to be completed.
Use Slack notifications when team members need to be alerted.
Avoid adding manual tasks unless a human action is required.
Make sure tasks are marked as done once completed so the sequence can continue.
