How to Route Prospects with the Split Step in Alta (Branches, First Match Wins, Call Disposition Template)

The Split step sends prospects down one of several branches based on a rule per branch — seniority, title, company, signals, engagement — with an Otherwise branch for everyone else, and a ready-made Call Disposition split.

Outcome: one step that replaces a ladder of nested conditions, so a sequence tree reads at a glance.

Where to find it

Campaign builder → Touch Points → click a + in the tree → Conditions → Split or Call Disposition.

Before you start

  • Split steps are switched on per account. If Split is not in the Conditions menu, ask Alta support to enable it.

  • The Call Disposition template reads the dispositions of the call step above it; add it after a call step.

Steps

  1. Click + where the prospects should be routed and choose Conditions → Split. The step appears with an Otherwise branch.

  2. Click the step to open it. Click Add branch, name it (for example C-suite) and pick a colour.

  3. Under Condition, click Add condition and choose a field — Seniority, Job Title, Company Industries, a signal such as Hiring or Funding Announcement, or engagement counts — then set the operator and value.

  4. Add more branches as needed and order them with the arrows: branches are checked from left to right and the first match wins. Prospects that match none follow Otherwise.

  5. Add the steps for each branch under its label in the tree, then Save.

Call Disposition template

Choose Conditions → Call Disposition after a call step to get a split with one branch per call outcome (for example No Contact Made) plus Otherwise. Each branch can hold several dispositions.

Good to know

  • On the prospect timeline, Alta predicts which branches will run for that person and can hide the ones that won’t.

  • Named condition steps such as Has valid Email? can now be opened and edited in place.
