What Is the Audience Section?

The Audience section is the first step when creating a campaign in Alta.

This is where you define who you want to target in your campaign. Alta offers multiple audience sources, and each source helps you build your prospect list in a different way.

This guide focuses on the Search source.

How to Use the Search Source

Step 1: Go to the Audience Section

When creating a new campaign, the first step is the Audience section.

Here, you will see several audience sources you can choose from.

Step 2: Select Search

Click Search to define your campaign audience using search criteria.

Once selected, you can start building your audience by adding filters.

Ways to Define Your Search Audience

There are two ways to define your search audience:

  1. Use Katie to help fill out the filters

  2. Add the filters manually

Option 1: Use Katie

You can use Katie to help define your audience.

In the text box, type what kind of audience you are looking for. Katie will help fill out the relevant fields in the middle of the screen.

This is useful if you want to describe your audience in plain language instead of manually selecting each filter.

Option 2: Add Filters Manually

You can also define your audience manually by selecting the relevant filters yourself.

Company Attributes

Under Company Attributes, you can filter by:

  • Company size

  • Industry

  • Revenue range

Use these filters to define the type of companies you want to target.

Job Titles

Under Job Titles, you can filter by:

  • Seniority

  • Department

  • Sub-department

  • Specific job titles

When adding specific job titles, you can choose whether the title:

  • Contains specific words

  • Is exactly the job title you entered

  • Is similar to the job title you entered

You can also expand or exclude job titles to make your search broader or more specific.

Location

Under Location, you can filter by:

  • Contact location

  • Contact continent

  • Company headquarters location

  • Company headquarters continent

Use these filters when you want to target prospects or companies in specific regions.

Company Names

Use Company Names when you want to target specific companies.

For example, if you add Amazon, Alta will search for prospects from Amazon based on the filters you added above.

Domain List

You can upload a domain list if you want to target a specific list of companies.

This is useful when you already have a list of company websites you want to include in your campaign.

Email Type and Contact Information

Under Email Type, you can add filters related to the prospect’s available email information.

For example, you can choose to only include prospects who have a profesional email.

Additional Filters

You can also add Additional Filters to further refine your audience.

Use these filters when you want to make your search more specific.

Tips for Building a Better Audience

  • Start with the most important filters first, such as job title, industry, and location.

  • Use company attributes to narrow down the type of companies you want to target.

  • Use exact job titles when you want a very specific role.

  • Use similar job titles when you want to include variations of a role.

  • Upload a domain list if you already know which companies you want to target.

  • Review your audience before moving to the next campaign step.
