How to Move a Touchpoint to a Different Part of the Campaign Tree

This guide explains how to move a touchpoint to a different branch in the campaign tree. This is useful when you want to reorganize your campaign flow or adjust where a specific step happens.

Overview

In Alta, you can drag and drop touchpoints inside the campaign builder.

This allows you to move steps such as:

  • LinkedIn messages

  • Emails

  • Follow-up messages

to a different part of the campaign tree, as long as the new position is valid.

Step 1: Open the Campaign

From the main navigation, click Campaigns.

Then, open the campaign you want to edit.

Step 2: Go to Touchpoints

Inside the campaign, go to the Touchpoints section.

Here, you will see the campaign flow displayed as a tree.

Each step in the flow is called a touchpoint.

Step 3: Find the Touchpoint You Want to Move

Locate the touchpoint you want to move.

For example:

  • Send a LinkedIn message

  • Send an email

  • Send a follow-up message

On the left-hand side of the touchpoint, you will see six dots.

These dots are used to drag the touchpoint.

Step 4: Drag the Touchpoint

Click and hold the six dots on the left-hand side of the touchpoint.

Then, drag the touchpoint to the new branch of the campaign tree.

Release it in the position where you want it to be placed.

Step 5: Move Additional Touchpoints if Needed

You can repeat the same process for other touchpoints.

For example, you can:

  1. Drag an email step to another branch of the tree.

  2. Drag a message step to a different branch.

  3. Reorganize the campaign flow based on the logic you want to create.

Important: Some Positions Are Not Valid

Not every touchpoint can be moved to every part of the tree.

For example, you cannot move a LinkedIn message to a branch where the prospect has not yet connected with you on LinkedIn.

This is because a LinkedIn message can only be sent after the prospect is connected.

If you try to move a touchpoint to an invalid position, Alta will show an invalid position message.

Example

If your campaign includes:

  1. Connection request

  2. LinkedIn message

  3. Email

  4. Follow-up message

You can drag a touchpoint to another valid branch of the tree if it matches the campaign logic.

However, you cannot place a LinkedIn message before the connection request is accepted, because the prospect is not connected yet.

Best Practices

  • Make sure each touchpoint is placed in a logical order.

  • Keep LinkedIn messages after a successful LinkedIn connection.

  • Use drag and drop to keep your campaign tree organized.

  • If Alta shows an invalid position message, choose a different location in the tree.

  • Review the full campaign flow after moving touchpoints to make sure the sequence still makes sense.

Recommended Use

Use this feature when you want to:

  • Reorganize your campaign flow

  • Move follow-ups to a different branch

  • Adjust the sequence based on prospect behavior

  • Keep the campaign tree clean and easy to manage
