How to use a Custom Condition in Touchpoints

This article explains how to use a Custom Condition in the Touchpoints section of the Campaign Builder. It covers how to add a condition, choose a field, define the logic, and create different paths based on prospect behavior.

What Is a Custom Condition?

A Custom Condition allows you to create a branching workflow based on specific prospect actions or data.

For example, you can check whether a prospect opened an email more than two times. Based on the result, the prospect will continue through either the Yes path or the No path.

How to Add a Custom Condition

Step 1: Go to the Touchpoints Section

In the Campaign Builder, go to the Touchpoints section.

Step 2: Click Add New

On the left-hand side of the screen, click Add New.

Step 3: Select Condition

From the available options, click Condition.

Step 4: Choose Custom Condition

On the right-hand side of the screen, select Custom Condition.

Step 5: Click Add Condition

Click Add Condition to start creating your condition logic.

Step 6: Choose a Field

After clicking Add Condition, you will see a list of fields you can choose from.

For example, you can select:

  • Email open count

This field lets you create logic based on how many times a prospect opened an email.

Step 7: Choose the Logic

After selecting the field, choose the condition logic.

Examples include:

  • Equal

  • Not equal

  • Less than

  • Greater than

For this example, select Greater than.

Step 8: Add a Value

Enter the value you want the condition to check.

For example:

2

This means Alta will check whether the prospect opened an email more than two times before reaching this step.

How the Yes and No Paths Work

Once the condition is set:

  • If the prospect opened an email more than two times, they will move down the Yes flow.

  • If the prospect did not open an email more than two times, they will move down the No flow.

This allows you to create different follow-up paths based on prospect engagement.

Adding Multiple Conditions

You can add more than one condition to create more specific logic.

For example, you can check if:

  • The prospect opened an email more than two times

  • The prospect clicked an email more than two times

When using multiple conditions, you can decide how the logic should work.

Condition Logic Options

When adding multiple conditions, you can choose between:

AND Logic

Use AND when you want all conditions to be true.

For example:

  • Email open count is greater than 2

  • Email click count is greater than 2

The prospect will only move down the Yes path if both conditions are true.

OR Logic

Use OR when you want at least one condition to be true.

For example:

  • Email open count is greater than 2

  • Email click count is greater than 2

The prospect will move down the Yes path if either condition is true.

Tips for Using Custom Conditions

  • Use custom conditions to create more personalized workflows.

  • Add engagement-based conditions after email or LinkedIn steps.

  • Use AND logic when you want stricter qualification.

  • Use OR logic when you want more flexible qualification.

  • Review both the Yes and No paths to make sure each prospect continues through the correct flow.
